Let’s cut to the chase, the show was epic & Reconstrux Bookings did a tremendous job in bringing Napalm Death to Singapore. It was a sold-out  absolute brutal grindcore show that stunned everyone inside the *scape lab last June 29, 2011. But what seemed to be a haven for every grindcore fanatic, was a baptism of fire for an aspiring amateur photographer. As I continue to blabber on my experience, please be forewarned that you will not be seeing technically awesome shots nor photographically structured photos. What you will see are remnants of miscalculated images borne by aggressive circumstances. (more…)

It was June11,2011, 11:00 AM, when me, my wife, & my sister-in-law arrived at the F1 Pit building in Singapore. We were so stoked to see the Singapore Formula Drift 2011 for the second time when mother nature came crashing her ire dampening half of Singapore. We took shelter beside the generator area with hopes running low thinking about the cancellation of the show. In less than an hour, the rain settled a bit but still scattering some so we were still doubtful. We entered the venue showing our passes we acquired from Nikon Singapore which grants us entry to almost all areas inside the venue except for the grandstand. Unfortunately, these passes were only applicable to the first day which was the qualifying rounds. While roaming inside the vicinity, we could see that the track was all wet & my hopes for capturing tire burning smokes went dead. The show was warming up & we could hear the growls of some V8 engines. I brought my brother’s Nikon 24-70 f2.8 & my trusted 135mm f2 DC & took some shots around the area.  (more…)

Last June 8, 2011, *scape lab was set on fire (well not literally) when Echo Productions brought Cruel Hand to unleash mayhem in Singapore. Just like any other hardcore show, it was a supreme brute force slammed into the Lion City fans. Cruel Hand is an American hardcore & punk band from Portland, Maine, whose influences include the early years of Metallica. (more…)

Last June 04, 2011, TAG Events organized Pinoy Pride Fair 2011,  a trade event highlighting a concert & comedy show culminated by the finest artists in the Philippines located at the Rock Auditorium, Suntec City, Singapore. The event featured an internationally renowned stand-up comedian Tim Tayag, & two of the most celebrated artists in the Philippine music industry, Aiza Seguerra & True Faith. One of the media partners of the event was MASP (Making Arts in Singapore through Photography), one of the largest photography group in Singapore composed of professional Filipinos who share the same passion in arts & photography. Fortunately, I am a member of the group & fortunately, I was one of the few who were selected to cover the event which makes me a “fortunate legal photographer”. And because I have the authority to point a lens into someone else’s nose, I left my ninja arsenal at home & borrowed my brother’s holy grail of event lens, Nikon 24-70 f2.8. I also carried my trusted 135mm f2 DC for tighter shots. (more…)
