In promotion to their latest album Relentless Reckless Forever, Finnish heavy metal band Children of Bodom launched Ugly World Tour which headlined in North America last June. Since then, the Hate Crew has been raining metal on some parts of the world shaking every Bodom maniac to his knees. It was announced last August that part of the tour will hit Singapore on November 17, and Davis Guitar took pride in bringing the crew here. The show was a no-BS, straightforward, & clear-cut gig, which led to be one of the most memorable gigs that hit Singapore in 2011. It was a display of know-how, in which the organizers are fans themselves, and delivered the goods with a lot of respect to what the fans are expecting.

I always thought I will be chasing acrobat performers when I was devising a battleplan to shoot Children of Bodom. I never knew they were so poised on stage specially Alexi Laiho (lead guitar & vocals). Coming from a chain of shows from the other parts of the globe, it looks like jet lag & exhaustion has already kicked-in. Despite the composed performance, the band was still able to pull-off an ass-kickin’ heavy metal show. The lighting was quite descent, with a lot of color splashes throughout the show. It started out with hints of greens & yellows, then washed in reds in the middle of the show, & ended with blues towards the end.

I brought along my Nikon 135mm F2 DC, which was the workhorse for the night. Shots were taken at Aperture Priority at f 2.2, shutter limited at 1/125 sec, & ISO set to auto at 6400 maximum. Metering was juggled between spot & matrix.
