It was 3 months before the show when Extreme’s Official Band Page announced that they are enlisting Singapore as part of Extreme Pornograffitti World Tour. The show was made possible by Live! Empire delivering funk rock nostalgia to the fans inside the Coliseum Hard Rock Hotel Singapore at the Resorts World Sentosa, the night of June 5, 2014.

Singapore Rock Festival kicked off last 05 March 2014. It was a two day event that featured Black Veil Brides, Five Finger Death Punch, Rob Zombie, and Korn on the first day, then followed by Alter Bridge and Alice in Chains on the second day. Unfortunately, I was only able to grab some time to see the first day and it was just right to keep my eardrums ringing for 2 days as I was nailed beside the PA the whole time. Knowing how rowdy the crowd can be, I didn’t want to take the risk of bringing a DSLR so I grabbed my trusty compact Sony RX100 with me instead.

Each one of us has a list of things that we need to do, see, or hear while we spend our average life on this planet. Personally, having missed Metallica 20 years ago back home, watching the guys, who has influenced almost all of the current metal scene, live on stage was one of my bucket list. There have been rumors that they are possibly passing by the region during their slate at  the Soundwave Festival, but nothing has been confirmed yet. After a few rounds of maybe’s & maybe not’s, the Singapore show was officially announced. Minutes after, I was initially struck with disbelief, reloading their webpage over & over, validating whether they have posted some anomaly by mistake. After staring at my phone for a couple of minutes, I soon realized that I was not dreaming & what I was staring at was blatantly real. It was about time that I gathered all my senses, relaxed, & silently screamed HELLYEAH!! (more…)

During the time when YouTube was a media only meant to be accessed & shared, a few people has found the site’s potential to be a gateway for fame. Because of its powerful influence on the viewers, there have been countless aspiring musicians that have gotten the quick ticket to international stardom. One of the pioneers that took the first step in reaching out to the rest of the world was Marie Digby. Her first highlights on YouTube was an acoustic rendition of Rihanna’s “Umbrella”, shot at what seemed to be inside a toilet. The video got an overwhelming response setting Marie Digby as one of the fastest rising stars in 2007. (more…)

A few months back, I received a call from a co-photog, Darwin, asking me to back him up for the upcoming Megadeth TH1RT3EN World Tour in Singapore. Apparently, I have been pestering him to rope me in since day one ever since he was contacted by LinVan Productions to cover their shows here. All the harassment has finally paid off & I was officially given the “all access pass”. LinVan Productions have been granting concert goers’ wishes for more than a decade & whenever they do, they never fail to impress the fans. The moment I knew they got the show, I nodded in full confidence. And special thanks to buddy Darwin, I owe you one!  (more…)

Dezember is a death metal / progressive band from Thailand who were tasked to set the stage for Megadeth’s TH1RT3EN World Tour In Singapore. Special thanks to my photographer bud, Darwin, I was able to snag a rare piece of “all access pass” badge for the whole duration of the show. The event was brought forth by LinVan Productions, a Singapore-based events management company who has been successfully handling international concerts for more than a decade.  (more…)

Honestly, I did not have any intentions of bringing my gear to the  Dream Theater show last May 02, 2012. Why? It was Dream Theater for Christ’s sakes! Every second you detach your attention from them is like wasting every dollar of your hard-earned ticket. But the photographer in me kept poking my frontal lobe to bring the cam with one glass. It shouldn’t hurt a bit, I say, so I brought along my “dammit just shoot that damned thing” lens, the Nikon AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR. Not equipped for low lighting? I didn’t care. I came to enjoy the show more than just drooling on these guys on video. I got hold of my ticket when my lovely wife surprised me one evening showing a print screen of the online receipt. How cool is that? (more…)
