Dezember is a death metal / progressive band from Thailand who were tasked to set the stage for Megadeth’s TH1RT3EN World Tour In Singapore. Special thanks to my photographer bud, Darwin, I was able to snag a rare piece of “all access pass” badge for the whole duration of the show. The event was brought forth by LinVan Productions, a Singapore-based events management company who has been successfully handling international concerts for more than a decade.  (more…)

There are two kinds of people who haven’t heard of Andy McKee, those who do not play acoustic guitar & those who do not have access to internet. Andy McKee rose to fame when he conquered YouTube with his one of a kind acoustic solo guitar slapping & harmonics, which was dubbed as drifting. He started off by doing jaw dropping improvisations of famous songs such as Toto’s Africa on acoustic guitar. He eventually wrote his own songs with similar, but more technical, approach & started breaking new grounds outside the realms of YouTube. (more…)

Gotsu Totsu Kotsu tried to communicate with the audience: Anyone of you speak Japanese?

Audience: MARIA OZAWA!! MARIA OZAWA!!

Well, that’s one way to reach an audience the Japanese way. After keeping so hard not to lose my composure from Truth Be Known’s contagious performance in order to document things properly (which I seemed to fail eventually), Gotsu Totsu Kotsu stepped-in & wrapped-up Full Battle Order 2012. The Japanese death metal trio from Saitama, Japan, was ripping everyone’s appendages as they attracted onlookers buying last minute tickets to witness the event. With blistering scales running up & down the fretboard paired with brutal vocal passages, Gotsu Totsu Kotsu was a battering ram which led the audience to plead for more. (more…)

Truth Be Known was one of the highlights of the Full Battle Order 2012 organized by Mourning Sound last April 7, 2012. The band was originally formed back in 2005 & underwent several changes in terms of line-up & musical style. Despite all the variations the band has  gone through, they eventually solidified themselves into one of the most influential metal bands in Singapore branding every Singaporean metalhead’s handbook. Revilement was one of the bands that brought Full Battle Order rise up to its peak of insanity as they took the stage & redefined the term ‘underground’. Gut-wrenching, technically mind-boggling, & insanely fast, Revilement packs a lot of rage with growl vicious enough to bitch-slap Adolf Hitler back to prep school. They were formed back in 2006 and have been dubbed as Taiwan’s most brutal band. I couldn’t agree more. Ever since their inception, they have been conquering deathfests all over Asia delivering death metal in a silver platter. (more…)

Out for Blood took over the stage after Intolerant rumbled the foundations of *Scape at the Full Battle Order last April 7, 2012. Organized by Mourning Sounds, the event gathered some of the heaviest bands from Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, & Singapore. This was the second time I witnessed & shot the band, the first was when they opened for A Strength Within last year. Out for Blood is a hardcore band in Singapore comprised of Yasser (vocals), Herman (guitars), Rhaimy (guitars), Supi (bass), & Izanee (drums) & they have been tearing stages into pieces of plain badassery. Their presence at the Full Battle Order triggered the initial response for a brewing mosh pit which eventually led into a promising event witnessed by a handful of faithful followers. (more…)

It was a rainy Saturday afternoon when Mourning Sound brought forth mayhem that shook the grounds of *SCAPE in Singapore last April 7, 2012. Some of the heaviest bands from Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, and the Philippines gathered at the basement of the bustling teenage hangout to deliver heavy music served right in front of the fans’ faces. The turnout was minimal with only the purest hardcore followers went & moshed as their heroes engaged Full Battle Order. Hardcores moshing with the metalheads, what made up for the small gathering led to a unity of  fans in each genre. The venue looks brutal & raw, with only caution tapes cordoned-off to set the boundaries on what looks like a basement carpark. (more…)
